Computer Specialist
I am computer network engineer and specialist providing services in the
areas of computer facility building, multi-facility networking and
facility wiring structures throughout Northeast Florida. I have been
working in the field for almost 20 years and have experience in a wide
range of applications. As a child of the 70s I have been fortunate to have had
hands on experience with the PCs since the commercial release of 75. My first computer experiences were on the Commodore
PET, TRS-80 model I & III & the AppleII+ models of computers.
My childhood was filled with the disecting hardware and learning how to program in BASIC, FORTRAN & PASCAL, the languages of these early
machines. My
college years were spent tackling a number of degrees of knowledge in
this field, that, which in my opinion have been totally irrelevant to the current
level of technology and programming used today.
My computer career
started in 1991, managing rather large UNIX, XENIX & AppleTalk
networks. During this time I also started to get into building facility
wiring structures. Building facility wiring structures became a
necessity as wiring standards for networking were moving out of the
old token ring and serialCOM sceme. Upgrading wiring into the CAT5e
& CAT6 standards that are required by todays networks became such a
necessity for me in those early professional years. I was residing in
Seattle at the time of Windows95 was released to the public. One of my
greatest experiences was to live with the people of the pacific
northwest and enjoy their level of computer litteracy & competance.
I still remember how deeply entrenched Seattle was in BBS networks,
before the advent of the todays internet.
These days I manage the largest multi-facility healthcare network in
Northeast Florida, spanning 3 counties. I specialize in building rack
mount servers, workstations and network design. I offer computer
services to the public through my company, Computer Division. I owe a
great deal of my success to the many fine people who have helped me
over the years. I refurbish vintage computers as a hobby.
